An entrepreneur at heart, David earned a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship from the University of Tampa which provided valuable insight into the complex needs of small business owners. Since then, his client base has grown to include executives and professional athletes. David’s acumen in individual financial and insurance services, investment strategies, and business planning are only matched by his attention to detail.

David and his wife, Amy, have 3 amazing children, DJ, Olivia, and William. When David isn’t working, he enjoys quality time with his family, playing guitar, golfing, and watching sports.

Drew has been in the financial services industry since 2004, serving clients in many areas of planning including personal financial planning, business planning, charitable giving and foundational family legacy planning. He is passionate about continued service to clients and strives to ensure that clients feel heard regarding what is important to them and those they care about.

Drew obtained his International Finance degree from the University of South Florida in 2005 and continued his education with The American College obtaining his CLU® (Chartered Life Underwriter), ChFC® (Chartered Financial Consultant) and RICP® (Retirement Income Certified Professional®) designations, CEPA (Certified Exit Planning Advisor) from the Exit Planning Institute, along with his CFP® (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™) from the board of Financial Planning.

Drew and Julie have two wonderful daughters, Makayla and Makenzie. As a family they love to be in the outdoors, kayaking, at the beach, walking their dogs, along with serving at our church Bell Shoals Church

Blake graduated Magna Cum Laude* from Millsaps College with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. He went on to complete his Master of Business Administration at the Else School of Management after being selected recipient of the prestigious Allison Coggin Lee Memorial Endowed Scholarship.**

As a firm believer in the Benjamin Franklin quote, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail,” Blake takes great pride in educating his clients on strategies to work towards their personal goals. Empowering his clients to make complicated financial decisions is a driving force in his work at Instrumental Wealth.

When not in the office, you can probably find Blake planning a kayaking or fishing trip or just enjoying a relaxing day at the beach with his lovely wife Deena.

Jordan has been in the financial planning industry since he graduated college in 2014.  He has worked with clients in many areas of planning, including personal financial planning, business planning, long-term care planning, and retirement planning.  Jordan believes educating clients on the complex nature of financial planning to be one of the most rewarding parts of the business.  He enjoys having clients see their lives change by helping them put the pieces of their financial puzzle together.  Jordan obtained his Finance Degree from the University of Central Florida. He currently holds the CLTC designation (Certification for Long Term Care), series 65 and FL 2-15 licenses.  

Jordan was born and raised in St. Petersburg FL, and he and his wife Ashley have one wonderful son, Woods, and a golden retriever named Douglas.  He enjoys spending time with his family, playing as much golf as possible, and is an avid sports fan, especially for his hometown Tampa Bay teams.

Originally from Fort Myers, FL, Sean has had an extraordinary journey. Graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration, Sean joined the United States Marine Corps where he served for seven years as an amphibious platoon commander with the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion in Camp Pendleton, California before his honorable discharge with the rank of Captain. Sean began his career in the financial services industry in 2014 as a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual in Tampa before ultimately moving to North Carolina where he built a financial service practice serving physicians, retirees, and families. With his wealth of experience, knowledge, and personal integrity, Sean is a very welcome member of the Instrumental Wealth team.

Sean and his wife Katie have been married since 2009 and have three incredible children, Graham, Caroline, and Kenny. When not serving clients, Sean enjoys woodworking, going on dates with Katie, playing outside with his kids, playing music, and watching Florida football.

Matthew’s 20+ year financial career spans experience in analytics, research, policy, strategy, and consulting. Matt developed, built, and manages the processes and team of these mission-critical services:

  • internal investment strategy team that oversees $150 million is assets
  • investment philosophy and the processes to construct and manage equity portfolios
  • tools and models for fundamental equity research

In addition, Matt has been integral to the Investment Research Committee as both Chair and Vice-Chair.

As a key player in institutional investment consulting, Matthew began his career as a T Rowe Price Registered Representative and moved up to a Performance Analyst. At CapTrust Advisors, Matthew advanced his career to Director of Analytics and Director of Research.

Matthew’s 16-year tenure at CapTrust Advisors saw the firm grow from $350 million to $18 billion in assets, where he developed, implemented, and managed:

  • proprietary scoring system for manager and fund analysis
  • manager and fund due diligence process to evaluate over 30,000 products
  • internal manager RFI and scoring protocol to evaluate separate account managers, mutual funds, ETFs, alternative investments, and indexed products
  • capital market assumptions used in strategic asset allocation modeling for clients and internal discretionary models
  • portfolio tactical adjustments based on market outlooks

Matthew’s career advanced further when he joined David Silver’s group at Northwestern Mutual as Director of Investment Strategy. That group, Instrumental Wealth, is now its own independent registered investment adviser firm, and Matthew is the Chief Investment Officer.

Matthew has a B.S. in Finance from the University of South Florida and is a CFA® charter holder. Matt holds his Series 66 licenses as well as a Florida 2-15 (Life & Health) License. His home life revolves around his wife and daughter, enjoying beautiful Florida, and learning guitar. Matthew is also an old-school D&D gamer.

Angela has been a part of the team since 2013 and currently serves as the Director of Operations for Instrumental Wealth. She is a graduate of St. Petersburg College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting. As our ‘Air Traffic Controller,’ Angela works fervently to deliver concierge services to our clients and to foster a work environment of interdependence.

When she’s not directing traffic at the office, Angela enjoys spending time with her life Partner Joe, their cat Daisy, annual trips to Las Vegas (Go Raiders!), visits to the mountains, live music, and the Tampa Bay Rays. Children’s Cancer Center

The Children’s Cancer Center is a local non-profit organization dedicated to serving Tampa Bay families of children with cancer or chronic blood disorders with emotional, financial, and educational support necessary to cope with their life-threatening illness. While other organizations are committed to finding a cure tomorrow, the Children’s Cancer Center is committed to helping every family member cope today through their 24+ support programs. Instrumental Wealth has been active in fundraisers including the Gelatin Plunge, Golf Madness, Women Wine & Shoes, and Charity Polo Classic. David is a Member of the Board and sits on the KNEAD for Knowledge Scholarship Committee.

University of Tampa

The Board of Fellows, established in 1972, sees its mission to serve as “goodwill ambassadors” within the community, as well as to provide financial and other support to the University. Made up of over 150 business leaders and professionals, the Fellows increase the University’s visibility through special events, outreach, and raising funds for scholarships. Through their activities, members of the Board of Fellows also find rewarding opportunities to network with peers who share their belief in the value of higher education.

David is a Member of the Advisory Board of the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center which consists of a carefully selected, diverse group of regional and national business community members. The purpose of the board is to provide non-binding guidance to maximize the center’s strategic development, growth, and success.

Shriners Hospital for Children: East-West Shrine Game

Created by the Shriners in 1925, the East-West Shrine Game was the nation’s first college all-star football game. The game is driven by the desire to support Shriners Hospitals for Children in its mission to help children in need of expert medical care. More than 1 million children have benefited from Shriners Hospitals’ unique way of providing hope and healing, regardless of the families’ ability to pay for services. Every year, David is the featured Financial Speaker, educating the young players on the importance of having a financial plan as they enter their careers.

Easter Seals Florida

Easter Seals provides exceptional services, education, outreach, and advocacy so that people living with autism and other disabilities can live, learn, work, and play in our communities. Instrumental Wealth participates in the annual A Pair To Remember fundraiser.

Buddy Baseball

Buddy Baseball is a non-competitive, non-profit recreational league for boys and girls with special needs in Tampa. The league pairs each player with a “Buddy” to assist the player as needed. This organization fosters friendships and breaks down barriers. It not only allows players to experience the thrill of participating but also encourages team play and camaraderie. Instrumental Wealth participates in the annual Buddy Baseball Run.
